Show n Tell March 2022

This month's theme was floral.

This is a quilt from 2010, made by Veronica.  She attended a workshop with Anne Pluck.  It was a Stack n Wack class.

Frances called this one "Happy Birthday Susan" and she made it for her Sister's 40th Birthday.  Her husband hated it so she took it back!!

Another by Frances, called French General Sampler.  It is a Saturday Sampler from The Cloth Shop and she hand quilted it Quilt-As-You-Go method. It was started in December 2010 and finished November 2016

This is one by Morag O'Malley and is machine pieced and quilted.  It is called "A taste of Burgundy".

Maureen says she is still trying to use up floral.  this is an older quilt sewn onto calico diamonds.

An applique quilt made in 2011 by Diana.

Bags of Difference by Mary Barker, it was called "High Fashion" but she preferred to make wonky bags.  It was hand quilted in the days when she could.  I think we all can relate to that comment!

Now into the March show n tell.  "Pacific Stars" by Judy Young.  It was made for her Grandson Tom.  They managed to get in a quick trip to Australia last July, between lockdown and he chose the colours.

Another by Judy. "Moravian Star". After making multiple Christmas stars she decided to use a fabric she could not resist  (and didn't need) to make an Easter Star.  we all have fabric like that don't we..

Diana made this for her son and it was quilted by Helen P.

This was a free online patten from Robert Kaufman Fabrics and was made by Helen P. and is called "Dutch Braid"

In March COQ newsletter there is information for a Club Challenge called "Which Quilt Block Are You" which is based on your birth month.  This is a June block made by Frances.  I think the idea is to have members bring their block along next month and there will be a draw, winner will be able to make them into a quilt.

There are seven Little Blanket of Love for SCBU.  Trish Souness  said it is her pleasure to continuously create these for the baby unit in the hospital.

This quilt is called Debutante's Lace and is by Maui.  She had lace left over from making a dress for her sister.

"Loved for Life" by Rachel Raphael.  It is a prem quilt for her nieces 2nd baby.

This one is by Dianne Hay and is for one of her Grandchildren.

Another by Dianne and she found the pattern in a book, she decided to include some selvedges into it.

And this one was made to use up half square triangle.  She also said a big thank you to the people who helped her with these quilts.  They are all lovely.

The next group of quilts are by Belinda.  This is called Shades of Citrus.

She made this wall hanging to learn about sewing curves.

"Horse Abstraction"  pattern by Violet Craft.  Belinda made this for her daughter, she wanted all the colours of the rainbow.  It has been quilted by John Neilson with loads of details like hearts, stars, her name, the date and a unicorn. Wonderful.

Pattern by Laundry Basket Quilts and called Michigan Quilt.  She made it for a good friends 65th birthday and it also was quilted by John Neilson

"Cadence Court" pattern by Sassafrass Lane.  It has been a quilt that she has admired for a long time.  Also quilted by J Neilson.

Belinda made this one for her Aunty on her retirement.  She loved the colours and it reminded her of her youth.  It is called Cool Cactus Jenny Bolan.

Tula Pink Bag, made by Jenny Worsley.  Made from Tula Pink fabrics whilst away with a friend in the far north in the New Year.

These two quilts are called  "Pretty Little Pots" by Wendy Williams and are a PDF pattern.  They are by Jenny Worsley and Judy Potts and both are quilted by Jacqui Karl.

A Place For Anything Bag made by Kim Thornton.  She liked the bag, and said there was lots of work in it....

Judy Young was inspired by the ones Carol had made so has made about 5 of these very useful items....

Judy Young showed some old and some new Christmas decorations..

And the final photo is by Judy Young and is a rope bag.
