July Show n Tell

 We had a very good turn out for this months meeting. lots of chatter, a wonderful guest speaker and lots of sewing accomplished.  A wonderful number of quilts for show n tell, you might need to make a cuppa first...

First up was a lovely quilt by Bep, called Fantasy with magic 9 patch.  She had it quilted by John Nielson and she was busy stitching the binding down at club day.

This is another by Bep and is made with Batiks.  She saw something similar years ago in Taupo but made her version smaller.

 

A scrappy quilt by Lesley McFarlane.  It is made with scraps cut into 4.5 blocks.  It was an idea from Griet Lombard.  Lesley said that her scrap drawer is still full.  I think we can all say that...

Flower Garden by Veronica.  Pattern is by Sue Spargo and is celebrating her 20th Anniversary of her business and was stitched over 20 days, on line, with a new flower each day.

Twisted Ribbon block.  This is by Beverly Casey.  We were asked to bring along a UFO and this one was started in Tokoroa in the 1990's.

This quilt is called Moda Block heads 4.  By Sue Elliot and used William Morris fabric.

 

Perfect Form - Mannequin, pattern by Laura Heine and was put together by Jenny Harris in a class at Cottage Flair in Rotorua.

Woodland, pattern source is Sharon Keightley and stitched by Jenny Harris and she attended a class by Sharon to learn invisible machine applique.

A Double Wedding Ring large quilt and was pieced about 25 years ago and has been quilted by John Neilsen.  Still needs to be bound and is someones UFO. Unfortunately they forgot to add their name to the paper label....

"Some Of My Favourite Florals" by Trish Souness and was quilted by John Neilsen.

This stunning quilt is by Julie Pratt and was hand stitched and took a year to complete.

"Kinky Korus" and is by Marie Greggains.  It is for her 9yr old Grandaughter who enjoys her Maori Culture Studies.

Another colourful quilt by Frances H, called Circular Rainbow.  The original idea came from a Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt 2022 and she added more blocks and graduated the colours to make it more rainbow like.  These are 4 in blocks and Frances worked out using an old school graph book and some colour pencils.

A UFO of US Civil War Blocks by Rosalie Conder.  She originally began making this quilt for her sister who passed away in 2016.  She wanted to do a quilt in 3 colours and had been using EPP.

Another UFO by Rosalie Conder called My Town.  There are other blocks completed.  It was a BOM 2012 in a Home Spun Magazine and are applique all worked by hand.  Rosalie only has a couple of blocks and the corner blocks to complete.

 

A mesh bag made by Carol B.  It was a pattern in the newsletter.

This is a UFO from Carol B. and is called Edwardian Garden.  It was started at a Arahina
Retreat and will be a wall hanging.  She asked for advice on a border.  

This is called Emily's 21st Quilt and was put together by Rosie Neilson.  Emily picked the colours when Rosie was in Perth with her and she also added a couple more to it.  She is very pleased with it and put most of it together at our spring retreat.

Pauline Walton put this together using a Jelly Roll

Maureen has called this quilt Sun Bonnet Sue and used random blocks from Heather's stash.

 

This stunning quilt is by Maureen and was made using orphan blocks to make something useful.

"Coffee n Cream" another by Maureen and was a 2022 club challenge pattern, but this time all her own work!

A UFO from Maria and she has used her French General Pieces.

Maria made this table runner, in fact she made two.

Donna Bradley made this large quilt, called Crumbs, for her Daughter and her Boyfriend.  Never again she said, did not like using scraps.  Looks wonderful.

 

This stunning quilt is called "Sparkling Gem" and is by Linda Snelling Berg.   It was started for her Nephew when he was 5yrs old, he is now 17years old and was from jelly rolls.

 

I pretty sure these are by Diane Hays and are her UFO item.  They are all hand stitched in red work.

This months raffle was won by our President Donna but unfortunately i forgot to take a photo.

June Show n Tell

 

 "Toes in the Sand"  a block of the month via Fox's Cottage, pieced together by Judy Young. Made with Tula Pink fabrics, nice and bright.

A Hexagon Cushion by Judy Young.  Quilt as you go hexagons has been a passion of hers for a long time.  This floor cushion is destined for her Granddaughter in Adelaide.

Fields of Witchita, by Hester den Ouden.  It was inspired while flying over arable farms in Witchita Kansas.

First stitchery is by Maureen L. and  the other one belongs to Veronica.  This was a project put out by Sue Spargo to celebrate 20 years since her business began. It was an on line project with a new flower put up each day for 20 days.

This needle case is  by Veronica and was a club challenge made with hexagons.

"New York Beauty"  by Judy Young.  It is a work  in progress, a challenge for herself to learn foundation piecing.

A lap quilt by Penny Gallear.  It is all hand pieced and the photos are showing the front and the back

This is a Moses basket quilt by Bep and is for her Grand-Daughters baby son, Bep's 3rd Great Grandchild.

This very colourful quilt is named Overgrown and is by Yvonne Moore.  It is from Kathy Doughty's book, "Organic applique" and is mostly Kaffe Fassett fabrics.

This pretty soft toy with hand made clothes and a knitted cardigan was made by Sue F. and is going to be donated to a children's home.

This large quilt is by Belinda and is called Inner Beauty.  This is the biggest quilt she has made.

Another by Belinda and was a mystery quilt from Quilters Lane. Her 7yr old Daughter selected the fabric for this one.

This colourful quilt is by Annette Bourne and she has called it "The Community of Practice Blocks, Orphaned Blocks, Fillers and other Hangers On" What an interesting title.  It has been quilted by Lesley O Rourke of Quarry burn Quilting, Napier.

"Birdcage" by Penny Gallear.  The perfect cage for when you go on holiday, you don't have to feed the birds.

This is a Molly Lolly Jar by Penny Gallear.

"Peacock" stitched by Judy Potts.  A Sue Spargo project which was a few years in the making,,  Quilted by Jacqui Karl

And Judy Potts was the lucky winner of the club raffle, a lovely selection of fabrics which came in a nice tin bucket.

MAY SHOW N TELL

 Our club celebrated the Kings Coronation with a wonderful Morning Tea.

Thank you to the amazing committee.

This is a project bag, made by Carol Burgess and was an Embroiderer's Guild stitching project that she turned into a bag.

Moving Circles by Kim Thornton.  Kim went to Jenny's workshop at Fox's Cottage.

This bag is by Kim as well and was a stitching project through Embroidery Guild.

This striking quilt was made by Donna and is a Bonnie Hunter design and she made it for Robert & Kim's 10th Wedding Anniversary.

These needle cases are a newsletter project that Belinda finds for our members. They are by Glenys, Kim T and Maureen and the non hexagon one is by Annette, she said she does not do hexagons and made a different version.

 

Penny Gallear found this pattern in a Kim Schaffer Book and has called it Birds of a feather.

This as yet un-named quilt is by Annette Bourne and was quilted by Lesley O'Rourke of Quarry burn quilting, Napier.  It was a club block swap in 2022 and she chose light blue and dark brown strip material from her stash and the purple paisley made the quilt sing for her.

The maker of this quilt is Linda Snelling Berg and is called Friendship Fine Wines.

April Show n Tell

 

This delightful Easter bunny was made by Frances. It was made for a child at Woman's Refuge, some members are coordinating with Judy Y for this project. Frances made it from the book Making Luna Lapin, from the District Library.  She made the pattern shorter and smaller than the one in the book.

 

Donna started making this quilt for
Alison's 30th birthday, she is getting it for  her 35th Birthday....  It was a kit from Aime's Homestead Quilts over 7yrs ago.

This is a Bonnier Hunter Mystery Quilt 2022/23. It was made by Maureen.  It was Quilted by John Nielson.

A Baby Quilt by Madeline McCrea for her 1st great Grand Child.

And this embroidered baby gown is to go with it.  Made from the very old Plunket patterns, who remembers doing that , i did 43 years ago...

This stunning wall hanging is called "Fresh Cuts" and is a Sue Spargo pattern.  It was made by Veronica Davidson and quilted by Jacki Karl.

Another Baby Quilt, this one is made by Judy Potts and it was made from her stash for a friends 1st Great Grandson.

This is called "Yucky Dragons Teeth" and is by Annette Bourne.  She had an empty space on her wall above the coat rack and it needed something there.  Her walls are spring green in colour and she used the "jags" out of a book

"Sunshine Daydream" is the name of this wall hanging by Jenny Worsley A kit in Tula Pink fabrics.  Made up of foundation piecing and piecing.  She made this quilt in 10 days whilst on holiday in the far North.   It was a pleasure to make and went together without any hiccups.  Quilted by Debra Birch.
