We have a lovely variety in our Show & Tell this month.
First up are 4 more blocks for our current community quilt. I love the variety of effects in these blocks.
Caroline started Sebby’s Big Bed quilt lat year at a retreat. It was want to be finished for when he moved into his big bed a few months ago but we all know how quilt deadlines can be very elastic!
Leslie A made this House pillow cover. She meant to bring it for last month’s meeting for the
Leslie purchased a book of curtain fabric samples from the remnant bin at Philip Wrights and made this bag.
Carol made this quilt for a new great niece, Isla Ocean Bristol. She lives in Australia and Carol titled the quilt The Ocean Between Us. It was quilted by John Nielson.
This lovely retro Sun Bonnet Sue quilt was made by Beverly C. It was started around 2000 when Beverly lived in Costa Rica. She quilted it herself.
Here is another lovely double wedding ring retro quilt called Memories. Made by Trish S and Marie G. Trish pieced the top and Marie hand quilted it.
The following small quilts are Little Blankets of Love for babies in hospital, all made by Trish S.
Cats in Pyjamas was made by Judy P from a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. It was made for Judy’s cat mad grand daughter, Aroha. She absolutely loves it. Quilted by John Nielson.
No Waste quilt or blanket jacket. Yvonne is not quite sure what she will make it into. She says she is doing an Anna Hicks class at the upcoming National Quilt Symposium and decided to use a wool blanket, embellished. Yvonne found the pieced hexagons at an op shop in Taihape and she has machine appliquéd then over the holes in the blanket.
This is Yvonne’s scrap Potato Chip Block quilt. Aotearoa quilters had a challenge to sew something every day in August and the suggestion was to get into your scrap box. Yvonne hadn’t done this block before. She has now made four 12 block quilts for her great nieces and nephews. I’m willing to bet her scrap pile has not reduced by much (if my scrap pile is anything to go by.)
We had a couple of very welcome visitors from Rose City Quilters at the meeting. The following quilt is Lorna N’s Lucy Boston reproduction. She started with traditional,hand English paper piecing but her hands didn’t enjoy it, so she ‘reverted’ to her machine by butting up the paper covered pieces and zig zagging with invisible thread. She then appliquéd the blocks to the background
squares and devised sashing to mimic the original. I love the colour palette.Anne A’s quilt is called Linens Revisited. She was given 4 cloth serviettes that needed some embroidery on them with the embroidery patterns being sourced from Pinterest. Other old linens were used for backgrounds and borders.

Perfectly Imperfect is also by Anne A and was made from a vintage table cloth which she machine quilted to give it new life.
Lesley M made the following for her granddaughter Lillies’s 21st quilt. Lillie likes shades of brown, yellow and pink and likes it snuggly.
This is Lesley’s Couch Caddy made in a workshop with Sandra.
I think the following quilt was made by Karen C. Please let me know if I have this wrong. I don’t seem to have a recording slip for it.
