MARCH - A club day for Cotton on Quilters that was a hive of industry and activity.
Helen offered us the opportunity to sign up for the Saturday Block of the Month from the Cloth Shop in Palmerston North. Thirty seven club members agreed to take part in this. It was first expected that there would be only a few members taking part and the sewing of our blocks would be part of our techniques training which is a regular activity in our club. But, with the numbers who decided to do this it was an all out hive of industry while Helen attempted to assist those less able to decipher the written instructions we received with our blocks.
The photographs below indicate the activity that took place.
Sewing space was at a premium
Queues met at cutting boards
and ironing boards
and yet we managed to complete our block of the month.
It was also the day we handed in our quilts to prepare for the exhibition
Lorraine and Janice carefully recorded each quilt on computer
A mammoth task which drew a sigh of relief when completed.
After all the other activities of the day came the Show and Tell.
Leslie made this quilt using some printed fabrics
Rosemarie's waist coat. Really smart!
Keitha, one of our newer members has produced this scrap quilt.
A great blend of colour Keitha.
Janice is an artist and there is no doubt about the joy it is to see your work Janice
Tracy showed us two quilts she has made recently
Bugs
and Poppies.
Thanks Tracy no need to be shy about your achievements. They are beautiful.
