November 2012 Show and Tell

Hi everyone

Marie couldn't be at the last meeting so she asked me to do the show and tell this month. We start off with Maria's beautiful Baltimore blocks. There are 25 blocks in the quilt and Maria has done 21 of them so far. Way to go!

These two blocks go in the corners
Jeanette"s quilt was made for her granddaughter and is going to England.
And this one is a present for Jeanette's grandson in Brisbane, to remind him he is a Kiwi, I think!
This quilt was made by Quirky Quilters (formerly Chaos Quilters) Friday group for St John's.
Some of us went to the Rosalie Dace lecture in Palmerston North recently. Rosalie is a talented quilter from South Africa who toured New Zealand at the invitation of the Remarkable Symposium Committee. What a fantastic lecture it was. Rosalie challenged us to make a quilt that says who we are. Frances works on a computer in her job and was inspired by Rosalie's challenge to make this original designed based on the "Undo-Redo" button on the computer keyboard. Very cool!
Lidy showed her completed quilt from the class we took with Gloria Loughman. Mine is still in the bag awaiting attention (along with innumerable other incomplete projects - ha!) I love Lidy's quilt. I'm not sure what she is calling it but "connected" is what it speaks to me.
Bep, one of our newer quilters made this 3-D folded technique Christmas wall hanging,
and this Kiwiana wall hanging. Bep is originally from The Netherlands, so I think we can say she is a Kiwi now :-)
Rosie N made this lovely floral quilt in the postcard style. Gorgeous spring flower fabrics
She also made these Christmas stockings for her grand children
And this cool table runner in a pattern form Grandmother's Garden.
The Quirky Quilters recently had a jellyroll 1600 race and here are some of the quilts and tops.
The first one up is Veronica's made from a jelly roll of 40 strips.
The next one is also Veronica's, this time made with 48 strips
Maureen G's is made with lovely Kaffe Fassett fabrics and I love the black squares she inserted while joining the strips together
This one is also made by Maureen G
Helena made this quilt top using pretty romantic fabrics.
Heather made this lovely log cabin star quilt for Christmas
Carol has been making presents (and I apologise, I forgot to take photos of the tissue holders and thread catchers) Here are two table runners

Anne O makes her Christmas cards each year and she said this year's design is the most under-stated she has done.
And lastly, I have a newly acquired (but pre-loved) quilting machine and these are my first efforts at quilting on it. Both quilts are tops that had been hanging around for years and have now been donated as community quilts. Don't look too close at the the quilting quality :-)
I did a large meander to start off with
This one was a top I purchased, for $10, from Grandmother's Garden many years ago when I was very into
Christmas decorating.
Then I got a bit more adventuresome
That's all, folks!
