June Show n Tell

 Theme for the month of June was Bags, and it was a popular one.  We had Carol Burgess, a member of COQ, who is a prolific bag maker give us a talk and a show n tell of her collection of bags.

This is a double sided bag by Frances Henderson.

Another by Frances and was a class taught by her daughter Amy in 2009.

A bag by Kim Thornton. She saw the pattern in a book and collected the fabric. It is handy for carrying a folded quilt in.


A Christmas Bag by Kim, she learnt how to make a double pocket bag.

Another by Kim and is a black and white cats bag.


This one is called Hooked on Hexagons and is by Judy Young.  Saw the pattern in a magazine and worked out to make it.

Another by Judy and is a quilt as you go bag.


This one is also by Judy .

These two bags are made using hand woven wool and are by Diane Harries, she had a stage of designing bags.


Diane attended a class by Anna Williams and adapted it into a machine cover.

Diane also made a Moravian Star.

A bag made from an old pair of jeans and embroidered, was made by Jenny Rattenbury.

Jenny made a knitted Rose bag, something very different.

Lesley McFarlane attended a workshop for this lovely bag.

Lesley also made this colourful bag in Tula Pink fabric.

This is another embroidered bag by Jenny Rattenbury.

Bep Mooij made this cat bag at a Christina Barrington Class.

This is a pattern from Jenny Hunter purchased at Plume Art, Levin and made by Bep at retreat.

This was a workshop by Amy and was made by Veronica, it is a clam shell handbag.


This bag was started by Bernice Burns and finished by her daughter Donna Bradley.


This quilt is called Covid Blues and was made by Maureen,  Was a mystery quilt during covid lock down and the designer is Rachel Denneray.

Another by Maureen who has called it By the Seaside.  She picked up part made blocks that were given to Hospic Tawa Street and she will donate it to charity.

This is Lesley's lock down covid quilt, lovely bright colours.

This quilt is called Green Ladders and was made from leftover blocks from a 21st quilt made in 2011, extra borders made it become a lap size quilt and was made by Annette Bourne.

Lesley McFarlane made this Christmas wall hanging, it was bought from the Palmerston North Exhibition earlier this year.


Pooh & Co was designed, pieced and quilted by Morag O'malley for when the Grandies come and stay at Nana's.


Barbara Clarke decided that her lazy-boy chairs need new covers on them.

The next selection is "Book Of Thrums" by Diane Harries, she wrote.. What does one do with those gorgeous leftover bits of yarns.
