September Show & Tell 2024

 Hi everyone

This month's blogpost was a real team effort by Judy, Veronica and Helen.

We had a great meeting at the beginning of September. Show & Tell starts with Wensleydale quilts finished by some of our members.

The first one is made by Donna B.

The next one is by Frances H.

Frances made a lovely pieced backing for her Wensleydale. This got lots of  "wows" when the quilt was turned around.

I think this one was made by Lesley M.

The next one is by Helen P

This lovely Birds of New Zealand panel was made into a table cloth by Lesley M. It will be gifted to a couple Lesley and her husband met at Opunake camp ground.

Carol, Jenny and Judy H attended an embroidery class. The photo does not do justice to these beautiful pieces.

"All things Bright and Beautiful" was made by Trish S for a very special baby expected in Tauranga. The mum-to-be wanted it bright.

Beverly C made this lovely "Twisted Ribbons quilt.

I think this is the back of Beverly's quilt. Using a pieced top for the backing is trending right now.

The following "I Spy" quilt was made by Madeline M. This pattern has been very popular over the years and is a great way to use up smaller pieces of novelty fabric.

This stunning quilt is called Fleur. It's made by Jail J and was a real hit with the meeting.

What a gorgeous bag, made by Susan B. I love the fabrics she has used and the frills are really cute.

"Tractor" is a panel quilt made by Veronica D for her husband.

Next up is "Staghead", a huge quilt made by Mary S for her "Man". She quilted it on her table top frame with a domestic sewing machine, an awesome effort.

The back of "Staghead" was also worthy of showing. I said pieced backings are trending!

Gail J is working through her stash of children's fabric. I love how the rectangles of this "I Spy" quilt are framed in black and offset from each other.

It has a very cute backing fabric.

This next quilt has beautiful dragons embroidery. It was made by Gail J.

Everyone loved the backing of the dragon quilt. Such funky, beautiful tigers.

The final four quilts are for the Te Awhina Quilt Project. They were quilted by Helen P. A big thanks to all those who made and/or donated tops for the project.

First up is a Framed Nine Patch. The top was donated by Belinda M.

The next one is a "Potato Chip Quilt, which made entirely out of 2 1/2" by 4 1/2" rectangles. This top was made and donated by Mary S especially for the project.

This one is Floral Vine. The top was made and donated by Liz M.

The final Te Awhina quilt is called "Flower Power. The top was donated by Rosie N.
