July Show n Tell.

 This month the theme for the meeting was "Challenge Quilts/Wall Hangings, and a lot of them were brought along.

This is the back and Donna chose this backing because she did not particularly like this material, which was from her sister in law from France...

Made by Donna and was a Shop Hop Quilt when Donna was on a road trip in 2011.

Lesley McFarlane put this one together for the 30th celebration of C.O.Q. in 2018.

Another by Lesley, titled The Ribbon That Binds Us. A Rose City Quilt Symposium Challenge in 2014.

Also by Lesley, Titled Wanganui. Was a challenge from our last exhibition in 2012 and this wall hanging came 3rd.

This wall Hanging is from one of our exhibition Challenges by Pauline Walton, it is Ridgeway Street, Wanganui.

Another COQ exhibition challenge, by Carol Burgess, a very long time ago she said.

A COQ recycle challenge, by Carol and was made from her Mother's kitchen curtains.

"Why Cats Don't Ride Bikes" was a COQ 2011 challenge and the pattern was by Crazy Quilter Girls.

Another by Carol and this was a QP online Initial Challenge.

This one is a COQ 30th Anniversary  wall hanging, Girl with the Pearl Ear Ring.

A Triple F challenge.

This is Madeline McCrea's  Triple F Challenge wall hanging.

This Super King size bed quilt is by Rosie and was a half square triangle. It certainly grew and grew. This is also her first attempt as a quilt as you go.

 

A 2011 Challenge titled "Clarice with a bit of jazz" made by Maureen L. in 2011, challenge fabric supplied.

This one, by Maureen, was a Oamaru Club challenge using recycled fabric. She called it "Op Pertunity"

last one from Maureen, this is a Capital Quilters "Where Did You Get That Bag" challenge in 2004.

The maker of this one was Veronica and was a fabric supplied challenge and Veronica was the winner.

A COQ 30th Anniversary challenge.

Also by Veronica, a Palmerston North Symposium challenge, the theme was green and "side by side, together as one"

This colourful bed quilt is by Bep and is for her Great Grandson Arlo.  Bep had found this one in a shop hop of Aimee's a few years ago.

"Winding Ways" is the title of this one by Maria and was made using templates.

A Girls Cot Quilt by Donna, was one of two that she had made for her Hairdresser's 2nd Great Granddaughter.

This is a jelly roll creation and Pauline Walton saw it made up and sourced the free pattern but was harder than she expected, She loves it.

M. McCrea made this small wall hanging for her Daughter's new home.  It is titled "Aspen Forest"

"Hunters Race Track from Nanny" by Rosie and is for her Great Grandson. He loves driving his toy cars on quilts so Rosie made one especially for him to drive his cars on.  Joy E quilted it for her.

From one of our new members, Belinder.  The colours were chosen by her Daughter and it was quilted by John Neilson, so it can survive the washing machine!  will become a pillowslip and was her first time paper piecing.  well done.
